Gillian is the Director of Income Generation at Claire House Children’s Hospice on the Wirral and Liverpool where she has responsibility for both fundraising and retail income, alongside the role of Information Governance Lead for the organisation. She joined Claire House in 2014 in the fundraising team, specialising in direct mail and individual giving and successfully grew the lottery into a major £1million+ income stream during that time.
She originally started her career in the private sector with roles in the marketing departments at Matalan, Littlewoods and more recently at Iceland where she worked for 9 years on regional marketing, integrated campaigns and national TV and radio advertising. She switched to the charity sector in 2013 and has loved the different challenge that brings.
Gillian says, “I’ve been very fortunate to have an interesting and varied career where I’ve particularly enjoyed learning new skills and trying new things. I’ve benefitted from mentoring myself on a couple of occasions and know how rewarding it can be, so I was really excited to get the chance to sit in the other seat! I love seeing the energy and enthusiasm of the leaders of the future and I know our sector is in very good hands.”
Gillian lives in Chester with her husband and son. Originally from Edinburgh, these days she’s most likely to be found walking around the Welsh countryside with the dog.
