Louise has acquired a wide range of experience during her 17 years in the charity sector. Starting her career as a Regional Fundraiser at the National Institute of Conductive Education, then ChildLine, followed by leading the British Heart Foundation’s Central England events team, before moving to Mencap, as Fundraising Manager for the Midlands, helping to organise several high-profile national campaigns.
In 2009, Louise joined Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where she has managed multiple capital appeals, led her team to triple fundraising income and in doing so raised the profile of the Charity. She attributes much of the growth to embedding a culture of fundraising throughout the organisation which was recognised when she became Director of Fundraising in 2014, and a member of the leadership team, a rarity in the NHS.
Tony supported Louise at a key point in her career. “He helped me to recognise my achievements, unlock my confidence and be courageous in stepping into the unknown. He also always made me feel that my contribution was adding value and this is something that I would wish for all mentees to cherish as well. As a mentor I aim to help individuals develop the knowledge and behaviours they need to flourish”.
